May JOY be your SUPERPOWER!

Are you feeling the

weight of the "SHOULDS?"

- Saying yes to serving when

you know you should say no...

- Rehearsing & rehashing every interaction

thinking "I should have said..."

- Delaying & procrastinating in your business because it should be perfect before you launch...

What if you didn't have to keep pretending that everything is "just fine?"

(FINE AKA - "Falling apart on the Inside with a Nice Exterior"

"You should know better." "You should be farther along." "You’re too...(fill in the blank). You should..."

Sound familiar?

These are some of the whispers

that try to define us.

Listening to these only results

in pain, exhaustion, and heartache.

If any of those whispers have felt true to you…

I have a question.

Is there spiritual overflow in your life—enough joy, peace, and love to spill over into others’ lives?

Or do you feel spiritually dry and depleted, with nothing left to give?

This isn’t about condemnation—it’s about an invitation to curiosity.

Let me tell you why I ask...

Or do you feel spiritually dry and depleted, with nothing left to give?

This isn’t about condemnation—it’s about an invitation to curiosity.

Let me tell you why I ask...

Because I lived in that spiritually barren, joyless, low vitality place for YEARS...

But who do you share that with?

"Hi, I'm a leader in the church. A mentor... and, oh by the way, I feel like a phony. Not growing spiritually, worn out, and weary from trying to please a God who seems impossible to please. (I'm actually not even sure He loves me).

Want to join our Bible study? We meet Tuesday!"

"Hi, I'm a Christian. I'm supposed to have the GOOD NEWS but it doesn't really feel like good news. If I'm honest, I feel like a phony. I'm not growing spiritually. I'm worn out and weary from trying to please a

God who seems impossible to please. (I'm actually not even sure He loves me. Sure everyone else...but me?)

Want to join our Bible study? We meet Tuesday!"

In response to this pain, we re-double our efforts, grab our color-coded sticky tabs,

non-bleed Bible pens, and vow to "do better" and "try harder."

We buckle down on our Spiritual disciplines and determine to not miss a day on our latest Bible reading plan.

With enough effort, surely we're going to figure

this "Christian life thing" out at some point, right?

But then....life happens.

Our best laid plans for the perfect quiet time go out the window,

we yell at our precious children, mess up that reading plan streak, and everything looks bleak.

Is this really as good as life as a Christian can be

(AKA not that great)?

Welcome to life on the Hamster Wheel in The 'Salt Land' of S.T.R.I.V.E.

Jeremiah 17:5-6

"Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
    and makes flesh his strength,
whose heart turns away from the Lord.
He is like a shrub in the desert,
and shall not see any good come.

Life here is barren, brutal, and we beg for a break!

THE PRESSURE IS RELENTLESS

This sadly is par for the course for many believers who are secretly

miserable, going through the motions, pasting on the weak smiles.

All while feeling like we're the ONLY ones who are not getting our acts together.

But is this the life Jesus intended for us...

joyless and fruitless?

In a word...NO!

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

JOHN 10:10 ESV

Our inheritance as Daughters of the King is the abundant life.

Including ABUNDANT JOY. Check out this incredible verse...

"I tell you these things that my joy may be in

you and that your joy may be FULL."

JOHN 15:11

(ESV; emphasis mine)

As you may recall "these things" in John 15 are about ABIDING in Jesus.

So, as a result of abiding in Him and His love, we get to have joy.

FULL JOY!!!!

Y'all!! Full joy...not a trickle, a splash, a dash, or just a sprinkle. FULL. JOY.

That's the invitation but what if that's not our experience?

I get it, sister!

That was me for many years.

I understood God's grace for salvation, but I was trying to "live the life"

in my own strength.

I was STRIVING.

HARD.

Gratefully, God didn't leave me in my mess. Through many difficult

and sometimes humiliating yet humbling experiences,

the Lord revealed what I had somehow missed...

the invitation to abide

In my zeal, I somehow missed this crucial lesson that I wasn't supposed

to be able to do ANY of this Christian life apart from Jesus.

I never needed to "just try harder" in my own strength.

The pressure could be OFF.

This is the invitation of GRACE.

What sweet relief. And what JOY results.

Instead of subsisting in The 'Salt Land' of S.T.R.I.V.E., we get to move

to The Lush Land of A.B.I.D.E. as described in Jeremiah 17:7-8.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Life here is not PERFECT but it's PEACEFUL and the PRESSURE is OFF.

How does that sound?

Because this isn't just theory for me.

The Lord has done such a complete work in my life that women who knew me before this grace and abiding revelation, don't know what to make of me!

I'm not the same woman any more! (Praise God, 'cause that other girl was REALLLLY uptight! LOL).

If you want to JOIN ME in leaving The 'Salt Land' of S.T.R.I.V.E. to living in The Lush Land of A.B.I.D.E., I have just the thing!

But first let me tell you what an early reader had to say:

"Wowzers!! Just WOWZERS!!!! Although I knew I was not the only female on this healing journey with God,

I never heard anyone actually put into words what this journey is all about!!!! Nicole has done it beautifully well." - Connie W.

I wrote (from what I am hearing) an engaging, eye-opening, and entertaining book titled...

Even MORE Kind Words...

JOY QUOTIENT BACK STORY

Like most things the Lord teaches me, this came out of a place of pain and personal need.

I was on an epic hiking trip to Zion National Park when one of my daughters and I got into a tiff. My daughter spouted off that the reason they don't tell me "everything" is because I will just "judge them."

Her words cut like a knife. Within minutes I was in the bathtub slinking deeper and deeper into what I call a shame storm.

Thoughts quickly spiraled into:

- What a horrible mother you are!

- How do you expect them to come to you if this is their experience?

- They would be better off with another mother who loved them better.

All in a matter of 5 minutes, y'all! It was BAD!!

Gratefully I got ahold of my thoughts. I said, "Nicole you TEACH this stuff. Stop it!"

And I did.

I began to cry out to the Lord and ask Him to help me renew my mind to His truth. Essentially, I came boldly before the throne of grace.

I confessed these patterns of judgment and repented (went in a new direction) agreeing with God that that was sin and no good fruit was resulting.

He showed me that my identity is separate from my behavior and although this sin pattern did not bring about the desired outcome we both wanted, my identity as a beloved daughter was secure.

He poured out His love for me and before long I returned to my daughters with a renewed mind and spirit. We reconciled and went on with the trip.

As I hiked the Narrows a couple days later I was blown away by God's depth of love and grace for me. He began to show me these "equations" for joy - both joyfulness and joylessness.

Once back home I began to practice the steps He walked me through. I was astounded! I finally had a practical tool not only for myself but something to use with my daughters. This would help them renew their minds to God's truth and experience His grace while going deeper in the truth of His word. Win:win!

I knew I had to share this with others so I began writing both a book and a workbook.

Both resources are designed to help you walk in God's grace, seeing yourself through God's eyes, and renewing your mind to God's truth!

Kick out lies. Renew your mind to truth.

Walk in freedom and JOY!

"She had not known the weight,

until she felt the freedom!"
